Our Agency only places girls as a Mother's Help in the UK. This program is open to girls who want to earn more money and attend English classes or any other course in the evenings. Girls working as Mother's Help will gain enough experience to work in the future as qualified nannies.
A Mother's Help is not a qualified nanny that work under the supervision of parents instead of being at the sole charge of children under 2 years and are employed by parents who want a combination of domestic help and child care or just a domestic help. As the Mother's Help gains experience, she can be responsible for children under 2 years and babies.
To be a Mother's Help, the applicant must be an adult - at least 21 y.o.- and independent, have fluent level of English, at least one year of experience looking after children or a degree that involves caring for children and finally, to have the intention of staying in a family at least one year. It is important that the girl applying for this program likes children and is flexible with respect to the tasks assigned. To have a driver license is an advantage but not essential.
A Mother’s Help will live with a family and should be treated like a member of it. The family will provide full board, own room and, whenever possible, own bathroom.
A Mother's Help will work up to 8 hours per day, five days a week, plus two nights of babysitting. She will have weekends off, however, she may occasionally have to work half day or full day on some weekends, but this is only possible if she comes to a mutual agreement with the family and she receives extra money. She is entitled to 4 weeks paid vacation per year and free public holidays.
The salary will depend on working hours, experience and skills, but ranges from £130 and £200, net after tax, per week.
The Mother's Help Programme is not a cultural program and opposite to the au pairs, “mother's helpers" are subject to a minimum wage and paying taxes. Families are responsible for paying her taxes and Social Security contributions.
